Agile / Scrum Team- Advancement and Evaluation
Client Profile:
Our client is an enterprise-sized Fintech and Gaming provider with offices across the globe.
Client Challenge:
Our client had been moving from a waterfall to agile based software engineering over the course of the previous year and had been experiencing significant challenges in work estimation, developer team output, quality and vastly differing approach and user experience from their Agile teams. We partnered with them to assess their team makeup and experience, determining that there were different levels of maturity and understanding in each of their scrum teams.
Gigbridge Approach:
- Initiated and assessment of the scrum teams in place, documentation, KPIs and adherence to core agile principles.
- Created an “agile maturity matrix,” providing a structured framework for evaluating team progress aligned to the agile software development principles.
- Agile Coaches were strategically recruited to guide teams through this transformative process, ensuring alignment with Agile principles and methodologies.
- Agile coaches were used in a very targeted manner based on the initial assessment, ramped up to mature the teams and the organizations understanding and then ramped down as common KPIs were achieved and synergies between teams observed.
- Created plan to align coaches to teams based on maturity level – executive goal was to create consistency in team approach and reach on-par level of maturity for teams within 6-month period.
- Partnered with IT directors to plan out advancement of agile teams and increase their maturity, use of tools etc.
The biggest insight from the initiative to the client was that their Agile teams were in most cases trying to continue to use water fall based approach to software development and there was little to no experience in Agile Software development. Post engagement the coaches had left the group with a comprehensive understanding of the core principles, a set of common KPIs were established and the client was able to use the metrics.
